ice storm...

So....Mother Nature dumped a huge ice storm on us last Friday night and everything is still covered with ice! Approximately 75,000 homes in our county lost power and (according to the news) tonight, about 50,000 are still without power! Fortunately for us, we did not lose power....until this evening (Sunday). Matt and I woke up early Friday AM to an explosion and quickly looked out the window to see a telephone pole and transformer box thingy blowing up and on fire. Quite exciting! My mom did not have power all day so she and her husband and thier dog spent the night here Friday night and stayed much of Saturday (they got thier power back Saturday)....then Matt's mom and step-dad came over for the afternoon/evening because they lost power as well, but went back to thier house to sleep (they STILL do not have power as of right now, so they are now at a hotel...)...then last evening Matt's sister and her husband and two daughters and dog drove in from Virginia and were supposed to stay with Matt's mom, but since his mom didn't have power, they ended up staying here with us for the night. Everyone left today right before lunch.....and then our power went out a few hours later.....ARGH!.....so we took our kids over to my mom's house to spend the night and then Matt and I spent the evening hanging out with our old friends, Brian and April. Our power came back on around midnight tonight...and now I'm wide awake....and it is about 1:30 AM....

We're very thankful that we only lost power for a few hours, as of right now.

EVERYTHING is covered in ice. It actually looks quite gorgeous! The above photos were taken at my mom's house.
